Thanksgiving Turkey Cupcakes Recipe

I think Thanksgiving is my new favorite holiday, because it is the beginning of all the fun, and I love having all the family around. These Thanksgiving Turkey Cupcakes get me in the holiday mood, and the kids love them. They are also a great pie replacement for those picky eaters.

I know it may seem crazy to some of you, but I am not a pie fan.  I just don’t love pie crust.  My husband would be ashamed that I am admitting this, but it is true.  I would rather have a brownie or cake any day.

If you have kids (or adults) who aren’t fans of pie, we have the perfect Thanksgiving treat for them.  Your kids can even help make them to entertain them while the rest of your feast is being prepared.

I even have them setting out when hungry guests arrive. There is nothing wrong with dessert first. It’s Thanksgiving, and you set the rules. Eat desserts all day long.

tips on how to make Thanksgiving Turkey Cupcakes

  • When the cupcakes have come out of the oven, be sure to let them cool completely before spreading on the frosting. If you don’t, the frosting will begin to soften and melt. This will make it difficult for the candy decorations to stay put. They will begin to slide around. After baking the cupcakes, I will sometimes wrap them in plastic wrap, or in an airtight storage container, and put them in the fridge to cool faster.
  • If your red frosting is a little stiff, run it under hot water to soften it up. It will harden quickly, especially after putting it on the cupcake.
  • When you dip your frosting covered cupcake into the sprinkles, I have found it easiest to use a small cereal bowl for the dipping. If there are areas I have missed, I also press a few sprinkles in with my hand, just to be sure the whole area is covered with sprinkles.

Candy you will need for the cupcakes

-Chocolate sprinkles
-Candy corn
-Wilton candy eyeballs (found at major grocery stores, they are usually by the sprinkles)
-Red frosting (I used pre-made, and found it on the baking aisle, for only a few dollars).

  1. I just wanted to to a moment and thank you for these cupcakes. My daughter has severe peanut and dairy allergies, so finding "safe" holiday dessert can be a challenge, but I was able to research ingredients and recreate these for her for Thanksgiving this year! She loved every bite!!
