It is the perfect sweet and salty combination that we all know and love. It’s so yummy and easy to make, and I can promise you, this will quickly become a crowd favorite.
If you ever have a game night, movie night, or plans to feed a large group, and need a last minute dessert, this is the perfect recipe. It can make quite a bit.

how long does this popcorn stay good for? Can I make it ahead of time?

This popcorn is so gooey and soft, and full off all sorts of additions, that it stays pretty well sealed and covered.

However, just like any other popcorn, it can get a little soft and soggy. We recommend making and serving this the same day you made it.

However, it does keep quite nice in an airtight container for up to 5 to 7 days.

could I use microwave popcorn to make this recipe?

For this recipe, we used a popcorn popper, and the popcorn had no seasoning or flavor on it. It was just plain popped, popcorn kernels.

However, you could easily make this recipe using microwave popcorn. We recommend using plain popcorn (not butter or kettle) because these flavors and additions to the popcorn, tend to soften it a little faster, than plain popcorn would. This popcorn tastes best when it is made with fresh and crisp popcorn.

We recommend using about 2 – 2 1/2 bags (or packages) of regular flavored, microwave popcorn. They make about 6-8 cups of popcorn, which is perfect for this recipe.

Now the trick is just not burning the popcorn while microwaving it…

  • 4 quarts popped corn (about 1 cup kernels)
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 2 cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup salted peanuts
  • 30 fun size Snickers bars chopped up
  • 3 ounce melted choc chips

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
  2. Pop your popcorn and put popcorn and peanuts in a big brown paper grocery bag.
  3. Over medium heat boil butter, brown sugar, salt and corn syrup for 5 minutes (stirring constantly). Remove from heat and stir in baking soda. Pour over popcorn in the brown paper bag, roll closed and shake well. It blends so much easier than trying to fit it in a big bowl and stir. After the popcorn is coated well, spread onto a cookie sheet. Spread chopped Snickers over top of popcorn and put in oven for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and drizzle melted chocolate over top of popcorn. YUM!

  2. I am such a popcorn freak and that looks amazing! I'm going to give that a try tomorrow. You should also check out my recipe for bacon-wrapped little smokies with brown sugar. They are a Super Bowl hit!

Thanks for the great recipe =]
  3. Just made this today for my hubby for Father's Day.. It is AMAZING and it was EASY! I have tried other caramel type popcorn recipes and they have all flopped because the caramel (usually with some sort of cream) either burns or doesn't set! This is basically fool-proof, which I need! Very beautiful presentation and delicious! I will use this recipe for any carmel corn I make in the future, snickers or not! :-) Thanks so much`
