Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

We eat a lot of chicken in our house – and while we’ve found a lot of ways to cook it, it’s still nice to have a little bit of red meat every now and then! This Slow Cooker Swiss Steak is really SO easy – and the sauce makes a delicious gravy to serve over mashed potatoes. It’s a great hearty meal for those cold, winter days.

  • 1 1/2 lbs round steak
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 14.5-oz cans diced tomatoes (and juice)
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (I used fresh, but you can use canned instead)
  • 2 cloves garlic, diced

  1. Pat down your steak with the flour (you can cut it up into strips, I kept mine in whole steaks for my husband and me).
  2. In a slow cooker, place your diced onions, tomatoes, wrcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mushrooms and garlic. Add the floured round steak.
  3. Cook on low for 8-10 hours

We like ours best served over mashed potatoes. The sauce it cooks in makes a really yummy gravy.
