Single Serving Melt-Away Cake

I love treats but one of my biggest problems is when I cook a lot a treats and tend to eat all of them! These Single Serving Melt Away Cakes are perfect if you have just a few in your family. They are SO good and easy to make! Hope you like them as much as we did!

  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk (discard white)
  • 3 tablespoons of flour
  • ice cream for serving, optional but recommended
  • hot fudge for serving


  1. Preheat oven to 425F and spray 4 cups of a muffin tin.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, add the chocolate, butter, and heat on high power to melt, about 1 minute. Stop to whisk until smooth. If needed, return bowl to micro and heat in 15-second increments until chocolate can be whisked smooth.
  3. Add the sugar, egg, egg yolk, and flour and whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into prepared muffin tins.
  5. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until edges are set but center is still soft; don't over bake. Baking times will vary based on oven.
  6. Allow cakes to cool in the muffin cups for about 1 minute, gently rim the edges of muffin cups with a knife, and slowly take it.
  7. Top it with ice cream, hot fudge, and serve immediately. Cakes are best warm and fresh.

    I just made this tonight and it was delicious! I used semi-sweet chips since that is what I had on hand. I also baked them for 12 minutes instead of 10 and even though it was still yummy, I wish I would have done it for 10. Great easy and fast recipe! Thank you!
  2. I'm currently living in Asia, where both ovens and real western baked goods are a rarity. I can, however, find all these ingredients, and I have a microwave. Do you think this could be made mug-cake style in the microwave?
