  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. yeast
  • Let that sit for 5 minutes. Then add:
  • 3½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp Salt

  1. Mix until smooth then let raise for 10 minutes. Roll out dough into a large square on a floured surface. Brush with melted (real) butter mixed with garlic and then sprinkle with kosher salt. Fold in half and cut into 1 inch strips. Twist and place on a cooking sheet. Let sit for 15 to 20 minutes to raise. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately after baking, brush with more garlic butter and sprinkle with kosher salt and grated parmesan cheese.
  2. Serve with marinara, alfredo sauce, or ranch for dipping.
*Dough also makes a great pizza dough, just roll out into a large circle, add your favorite toppings, and bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.

  1. Do you know if it would work to twist the dough strips the night before, refrigerate the unbaked twists, set them out in the morning to rise, and then bake? I would love to make these for my daughter's Rapunzel party and do as much as possible ahead of time.

I received your cookbook yesterday for Mother's Day, and decided to try this recipe out of it tonight. Is it normal for the dough to be so extremely sticky that I can barely get it all out of the bowl? I couldn't even get it to hold a decent shape enough to twist it. I didn't want to add too much extra flour, but between making it 'smooth' and rolling it out, it was inevitable. Any help is appreciated!
