Every summer, my family LOVES to make homemade ice cream.
We love coming up with delicious flavors and concoctions, and I mean, we have tried just about every combination (some better than others).
I have been wanting to buy an ice cream maker for a long time so that I could make ice cream with my family, but it’s just one of those things that I don’t know if I would use it enough to justify purchasing one.
I came across a recipe for ice cream that you can make in about 5 minutes without a machine and decided to put it to the test. It was a huge success.
I had leftover Snickerdoodle cookies and a jar of caramel just waiting to be used, so that is what I added to my ice cream, but you could come up with whatever flavor you are craving (I am thinking that fresh fruit or Reese’s peanut butter cups would be awesome in this.).
If you are looking for a quick and delicious dessert to keep you cool this summer, we highly recommend giving this one a try.
could i melt caramel and use this in my ice cream, instead of using sauce?
For this recipe, we definitely recommend using the caramel sauce. It freezes a little better than if you were to melt caramels, and let them harden in the ice cream.
The caramel sauce will stay soft, even when a little frozen, but the melted and hardened caramels will be a little difficult, and more chewy.
For this reason, we highly recommend using caramel sauce, found by the ice cream toppings at the store.
how long does this ice cream last in the freezer?
This ice cream tastes absolutely amazing, but it doesn’t last as long as other ice creams, in the freezer. We recommend eating this one within about 9 days of making.
We also don’t recommend microwaving it, and refreezing it, because it will freeze differently, and be more icy than creamy.
