Ham and Swiss Poppy Seed Sandwich Sliders

My Grandma was known for making these sandwiches for every family party.  The poppyseed spread on these sandwiches is so incredibly flavorful! This recipe is perfect for feeding a crowd or for a tasty finger food at your next party!

  • 24 King's Hawaiian Rolls
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 onion (minced)
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 slices swiss cheese (cut into fourths)
  • 28 slices deli ham


  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Slice rolls in half, keeping tops and bottoms together.
  3. Melt butter and whisk in onion, mustard, poppy seeds and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Brush the mixture evenly on both the top and bottom half of the rolls.
  5. On the bottom half of each roll, top the mustard mixture a small slice of swiss cheese and two slices of ham.
  6. Cover with foil and bake about 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from oven, separate rolls and serve.

  1. I have also been making these for years for my kids' birthday parties. People ask me for the recipe all the time, but I made one slight change that I think you should try. I add in some minced garlic to the melted butter, and it really makes it pop ~ I've never measured, but I would guess around a tablespoon.

    Here in amish country in ohio. We make sandwiches very similar to these. The only difference is we make the ham and swiss sandwiches and next we drizzle the poppy seed mixture over the top and bake for 20 minutes. Just don't put to much mixture on the top. Just had them today actually! Very Good!
