Halloween Mummy Dogs


When we were growing up, our mom would make chili on Halloween night every single year . . . and we weren’t allowed to go trick-or-treating until we finished that big bowl of chili. I was not a big fan of chili!!

I now appreciate and love chili, but I try to make something on Halloween that my kids will eat and love. These little mummy dogs are so fun to make and even more fun to eat – and I don’t have to beg my kids to eat their dinner before heading out the door to go trick-or-treating!

Halloween Mummy Dogs

  • 1 (8 ounce) refrigerated crescent dough sheet
  • 10 large hot dogs
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Mustard


  1. Heat oven to 375°F.
  2. Unroll dough; cut into 4 equal rectangles.
  3. With knife or pizza cutter, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 pieces, making a total of 40 pieces of dough. Wrap 4 pieces of dough around each hot dog to look like "bandages," stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog.
  4. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate dough so a piece of the hot dog shows through for face.
  5. On an ungreased large cookie sheet, place wrapped hot dogs and spray dough lightly with cooking spray. Bake for 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot. With mustard, draw eyes and a mouth where the face goes.
