Ground Beef Tostadas

These Ground Beef Tostadas have become a family favorite, which is great with me because they are fast, cheap, delicious, and everybody loves them. This dish is even popular with my picky eaters, so everyone wins on Ground Beef Tostadas night.

The quicker I can get dinner on the table, the better. If I know I have a quick and easy dinner recipe on the menu, I’m more likely to actually make it instead of going through the drive through.

This recipe is exactly that, quick, delicious, and requires no strange ingredients, but rather ingredients I have on hand.

The other thing I love about this recipe, is how versatile it is. You can add or take out whatever ingredients you do or don’t like. You just make these tostadas, how you like them. Here is how we like them:

how to make ground beef tostadas

Step 1: In a large skillet, brown ground beef. Drain any excess grease.

I drain my excess grease by rinsing my pan of ground beef under luke warm water, and using a spatula, I hold back the meat, and tilt the pan to get the water out. I do this action about 3-4 times.

Step 2: Add pinto beans, salsa, chili powder, and cumin to ground beef and stir until heated through.

Step 3: Top each tostada with ground beef mixture, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, cheese, and cilantro and serve.

what else could i add to my tostada?

I am a sauce and toppings person. I don’t like eating bland food. I love when I can top my food with something, or add a spice of flavor to it.

Some of my favorite toppings I use to spice up my tostada are,
-sliced tomatoes
-sliced peppers
-sliced jalapeños
-banana peppers
-salsa
-nacho cheese
-guacamole
-corn
-spanish rice

how could i make this more healthy?

You could always add a few more vegetables, or spinach to your tostadas, but one of my favorite things, is using ground turkey in place of ground beef.

They have similar tastes, but turkey is a much healthier alternative to beef.

You would cook the ground turkey the same way you would cook the ground beef. You simply just brown it in a pan until all the pink is gone.

Ground Turkey has a lighter color, so it can sometimes be difficult to see how “done” it is.

Ground Turkey should reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

don’t like tostadas?

That’s okay, you don’t have to use the filling on top of a tostada. Instead, you could use it as filling to a stuffed bell pepper.

We have hundreds of simple and delicious recipes on our Youtube Channel, like these tasty, Southwest Stuffed Peppers. Watch how to make them, here:

The best part is, the longest part of the recipe is browning ground beef – and that I can totally handle. Also, just to let you in on a little secret, it goes EVEN QUICKER if you have this handy-dandy little tool.
