looking for a few recipe shortcuts?
We are all about shortcuts, when it comes to cooking. We are busy moms, who don’t have a ton of time to make dinner AND dessert, so if I can shorten a recipe, I usually do.
Here are a few tips and shortcuts to get through this recipe, in just minutes.
- Used boxed brownie mixes. I love a real homemade brownie, however, I don’t always have time for that. I regularly use boxed brownies instead of making my own, and nobody has yet to complain so I think that’s a win.
- Purchase pre-chopped nuts. Okay this may seem a little ridiculous, but it’s not. If you don’t have a nut chopper with one of those handles you push down really fast, chopping nuts can be a pain.
- It also scares me that I am going to chop my fingers off. So yes, my tip is to purchase chopped nuts because it’s going to save you extra dishes, time, and maybe even your fingers.
- Make a simple fudge recipe. This recipe calls for legit fudge. However, we have a lot of simple 3 ingredient fudge recipes on our site. This brownie bottom would taste amazing with our 3 Ingredient M&M fudge, or our Two Ingredient Strawberry Fudge.
tips for making soft and chewy brownies:
Brownies can be tricky. Sometimes they are crunchy, sometimes they fall apart, sometimes they are too soft and gooey, sometimes they sink in the middle, but I have a few tips for perfectly soft and chewy brownies, every time.
-Quality ingredients: Sometimes when I am out shopping, I look to save a few extra dollars, by choosing generic brands, and knock offs of ingredients. When it comes to baking, you get what you pay for.
We recommend using the best of the best ingredients when it comes to baking.
-Room temperature eggs: eggs cook best when baking, if they are at room temperature. When eggs are cold, they cook a little differently.
We recommend warming them up in a little warm water, before adding them to your bowl.
-Over-mixing: The biggest brownie mistake. When mixing brownie batter, be sure to use a rubber spatula, instead of hand mixers, or a whisk, to avoid over-mixing.
One trick at mixing brownie batter, is to stop stirring when you can only see a little bit of flower or brownie mixture.
Don’t blend your brownie batter, until you can’t see any of it.
