Frosted Peanut Butter Nutella Cookies

These Frosted Peanut Butter Nutella Cookies have a soft and chewy peanut butter cookie base with chocolate hazelnut spread on top for the ultimate flavor combination.

There is a local bakery and soda shop where I live that makes the best peanut butter cookies with Nutella spread on top.  I was literally finding myself looking for excuses to drive past it so I would have to stop and get one with my Diet Coke.

My husband and I are moving and my cookie commute is going to increase significantly so I decided to take matters into my own hands and make my own Frosted Peanut Butter Nutella Cookies.

How To Make Frosted Peanut Butter Nutella Cookies:

These cookies are always a crowd pleaser.  They look and taste like you spent a lot of time and effort into making them, but they are so simple to make!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, cream together butter, 1 1/4 cups sugar and powdered sugar.  Add salt, baking soda and eggs and mix until combined.

Mix in flour until well combined.

The dough will be really thick, but that is how it is supposed to be so don’t worry about that.

Use a cookie scoop or roll dough into balls, then roll dough in remaining 1/2 cup sugar.  Place dough 2 inches apart on a baking sheet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.

Dip the bottom of a glass into remaining sugar and press down to flatten each ball of cookie dough until 1/4″ thick.

Be sure not to press the cookies too thin.  This dough doesn’t rise very much so they will be about as thick as you press them down.

If you press them too thin, they will be dry and overcooked.

Bake 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.  Let cool completely.

Scoop Nutella into a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 30 seconds to soften.  Spread Nutella on top of each peanut butter cookie and let cool to set up.

If you try and spread the Nutella on while the cookies are too warm, it won’t work too well.  It spreads better when the Nutella is warm and the cookies are cooled.

The flavor combination of a freshly baked, homemade peanut butter cookie with Nutella on top is absolutely AMAZING.
