tips for making egg nog french toast
-Thick cut bread, or Texas toast works best when making french toast. Although regular bread slices work, they tend to get a little more soggy when it comes to making french toast.
-If you really don’t love egg nog, or want to take down the flavor, you could substitute one of the cups of egg nog, for a cup of milk or cream.
-You could also just do plain milk or cream if you really don’t want egg nog french toast. This recipe also works for regular french toast, but the hint of egg nog is delicious.
-When mixing the egg mixture together, we recommend using a shallow dish, that is wide, because it allows you to fit the entire slice of bread in it.
Whereas if you used a bowl, it would be more difficult to submerge the slice of bread.
what toppings should i put on my french toast?
Toppings are really what make french toast delicious. I am a toppings person.
The first essential to put on your french toast would obviously be syrup. I like maple syrup, but I love our Buttermilk Syrup ten times more.
If you have never made your own syrup, you have to try this recipe. It so so easy, and fail proof.
I also love adding fruit to my french toast. My favorites are strawberries and bananas, but I also love peaches, raspberries, blueberries, candied apples, and black berries.
I also love adding crushed pecans or walnuts, especially if they are candied.
Last but most definitely not least, I love adding a dollop of whipped cream.
Combine all the things, and you truly have the world’s best breakfast.
