Easy Banana Cream Pie (with Nilla Wafer Crust)

This Easy Banana Cream Pie recipe is so easy to make, and is made with a Vanilla Wafer Crust. Say goodbye to bland and dry crusts, and hello to the best dessert of your life. You are going to love this tasty and delicious pie.

To me, the best desserts are those that are gooey, chocolatey, and amazingly rich. However, my husband likes to switch it up every once in a while and he requested a banana cream pie this past week.
I have a confession to make. I don’t like pie crust. I think that it’s bland and tasteless. Give me something chewy and chocolatey any day.
But, in order to save the marriage (ha ha), I decided to compromise. I told him that I would make him a banana cream pie, but that I would make it my way.
The end result was perfect. I went with a Nilla Wafer Cookie crust (I was out of graham crackers, but I bet that a graham cracker crust would be awesome too) and it was a big hit.
I loved it, he loved it, the neighbors loved it,  and the best part about it was that is was so fast and simple to make.
So if you need a delicious dessert and are looking for something a little different, I would definitely give this a try.

what else could i make the crust out of?

I highly recommend trying the vanilla wafer crust, however if you don’t have any on hand, or would prefer a different crust, here is what we recommend trying:

  • Vanilla Oreo’s (you will want to remove the filling of each one, then crush as directed in the recipe).
  • Biscoff Cookies
  • Teddy Grahams
  • Graham Crackers
  • Pie Crust (If you are looking for a homemade pie crust recipe, we recommend trying ours, here.)

can i make this recipe ahead of time?

Using bananas in recipes can get a little tricky because they can easily go brown, or soften, and lose their crisp texture and look.

We recommend serving it the same day as you make it. However, if you make in the morning, and plan to serve it later that evening, it would be fine. However, we wouldn’t add the bananas as garnish, until right before serving, the but bananas layered within are covered and will be just fine.

  1. I made this dessert and it was great. I did modify the recipe slightly. I'm not sure the servings you planned for this recipe, but I found that a whole box of nilla wafers (11oz.) made 2 9in pies. I left out the powdered sugar to decrease the sugar. I used vanilla pudding with bananas mixed in because I personally think banana pudding can taste artificial. My only criticism is that I think the cream cheese layer was too thick and the pudding layer was too thin, I would adjust this next time I make it. Thank you for the recipe it was a big hit with my husband and at work.

I think it will be delicious with or without cream cheese and the nilla wafers sound delicious and i have often thought of them in that manner but just wasn't sure as how to incorperate them!! Now Thanks For Your Suggestion's !!! Best Regards Joy :)
