Churro Waffles

Churro Waffles are all the rage at our house. If you have never had one, you need to make them. They make a great breakfast, or dessert, and are sure to be a family favorite at your home too.

As I have mentioned before, I am not much of a “hot breakfast” kind of girl. I just love my bowl of cold cereal each morning.
However, I made these for my kids last weekend and they may have changed the way that I think about breakfast. These are so delicious and just melt in your mouth.
If you are super adventurous, you could smother them in maple syrup (just don’t call me when you have to get your cavity filled at the dentist ha ha).
These would also make an amazing dessert! Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you have an amazing treat.
(PS If you like a more traditional churro, be sure to check out my Baked Cheater Churros. They are delicious and so easy to make).

what are the best toppings to put on waffles?

I am a toppings girl, all the way. It’s not breakfast or any dish, if it doesn’t have toppings. I have a lot of favorite waffle toppings, so here are a few of the best:

Caramel Syrup. You may think I’m crazy but caramel syrup and churro waffles were made for each other. The sweet compliments the sweet, and you could honestly serve it with ice cream and it would be a dessert.

Glaze. I love me some glaze on my churro waffles. Frosting would also work, but we recommend a thin glaze recipe.

I would add 1/4 cup milk, 3 tablespoons of melted butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 2 cups of powdered sugar. Mix it all together with a whisk, and you’ve got yourself a glaze.

Fruit and Whipped Cream. This is a waffle classic. It is also super easy to add to any waffle dish.

Nutella and Strawberries. Have you ever dipped a strawberry in Nutella? Well prepare to have your life changed. It is delicious, but add it to waffles, and it becomes a dream come true.

Strawberries, Bananas and Powdered Sugar. This is also a waffle classic, because it is simple, inexpensive, and tastes amazing. All you need is some syrup, and breakfast is served.

what do I serve with waffles?

If you are making dessert waffles, we recommend adding vanilla ice cream to these bad boys. However, if they are for breakfast, you may want some side dishes.

If you are looking for side dishes to serve with this recipe, we have a few ideas for you, that you are going to love.

I love making this recipe and serving it with fresh fruit. If you are looking for a fresh fruit salad, try our Greek Yogurt Fruit Salad.

We also love serving this with a fresh drink. When we make this for Christmas breakfast, we love serving it with our Warm Instant Pot Apple Cider.

If you are looking to go really festive, we like to serve our leftover ham with these waffles. Our favorite ham is our Slow Cooker Honey Baked Ham recipe.

  1. As the connoisseur of waffles in my family... this one made a home run... I mean hit way out of the ballpark! Sisters, you totally killed this one. My only frustration is how soon can I make these. I'd do it tonight, except it's after midnight and cooking anything after midnight can be a bit scary! My suggestion... serve it for lunch on Saturday. Or, if that's reaching... pick a winner. I promise I'll buy all the raffle tickets! No, seriously, you guys did good on this post! :)

Was in the mood for cinnamon waffles this morning. Tried this recipe and LOVED it!!!!!!! I let the waffle cool a bit first because when it was warm it kinda flopped all around and didn't stick together. But when it had cooled a bit, it was sturdy enough to hold the butter and cinnamon mixture. Will make again, but I have a small family so I didn't need quite so much cinnamon mixture. I will keep the mixture however in a jar and make it again this winter. Thanks for the great recipe
  3. I don’t have a waffle maker. Has anyone made this as pancakes instead of waffles? Maybe I could make it with a package of frozen waffles. I’m sure the frozen ones wouldn’t as good but. The recipe sounds delicious and I want very much to try it but I’m just not ready to buy a waffle maker right now. Thanks for any suggestions for making this without the waffle maker.
